SARASOTA, Florida – December 20, 2016 – Centauri Insurance to launch a new private flood program January 1, 2017. The coverage offers South Carolina homeowners an alternative to the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) with rates as much as 15 percent lower along with other significant advantages.
Floods can occur anywhere and account for the highest number of natural disasters, causing millions of dollars of damage in the United States every year. Despite these facts, many homeowners are unaware that traditional homeowners’ insurance policies do not cover flood damage. Flood coverage must be purchased separately through NFIP.
Centauri’s flood coverage can be attached as an endorsement to a new or existing homeowners’ policy and is designed to provide more options for customers and simplify the process.
“Our goal is to offer customers an innovative solution for flood insurance that is more efficient and more cost effective while providing better coverage,” said Ricardo Espino, President and CEO of Centauri. “Our program makes it easy for customers to combine their homeowners and flood coverage into a single policy.”
The new program eliminates the 30-day waiting period that is required for a standard NFIP policy and offers higher limits on dwellings and contents. Customers who add the endorsement can choose from a variety of deductible options ranging from $500 to $10,000 with just one flood deductible applied to both their dwelling and contents coverage. Other advantages of Centauri’s flood endorsement include:
• Coverage which equals or exceeds NFIP flood coverage
• Dwelling limits up to $2,000,000
• Contents limits up to $500,000
• Loss of Use
• Companion Policy Flood Discounts apply to underlying Centauri homeowners’ policy
• Replacement Cost Coverage for building and contents
• Claims settlement with one claims adjuster
